House in Old Church in London
A former church near Harrods district in London was turned into one of the most exclusive and luxury houses in the city. It was offered for sale at a price of 50 million pounds. This huge housing area is located in Knightsbridge quarter and was sold 15 years ago by the Diocese of London, which was in need of money for urgent restoration, at a cost of £ 1 million.

Thus, the former church came into the possession of Alain Boublil, a French writer, screenwriter and producer, known for the musicals “Les Miserables” and “Miss Saigon”. He rebuilt the church in the four-story building, which included a wine cellar and a pool. In 2009 the house was resold to a businessman from Thailand for 13.5 million pounds.
In fact, a part of the church belongs to the Diocese to this day and is still used for religious and community activities. The rest of the building has been updated in the frameworks of the three-year project, which cost £ 10 million and turned it into today’s sophisticated house.
The luxury house demonstrates extraordinary richness: ceilings are decorated with gold leaf, huge swimming pool, gym, sauna and cinema.
The house consists of 7 bedrooms and 4 floors. It is also equipped with a glass elevator, located inside the spiral staircase. The architects from Rigby & Rigby, who designed this new prestigious house, confirm that it is one of the most beautiful private homes in Knightsbridge.
The building’s exterior looks like a church, but inside there is a luxury and contemporary design. The central point of the house is a magnificent hall, built on the spot, where once the main nave was located, retaining some original features such as tall vaulted ceilings, stone columns and oak beams.
The land, on which the church is built, was bought for just £ 300 in 1837, but during those years, its price has increased 167,000 times.
