No, it is not the name of the new super blockbuster movie! The Babylon lights is a new exciting eco-friendly light fixture designed by Ryan Taylor. Let’s take a sneak peek at his creation!
Unique Planter Lamp
Well, have you just dreamt about the combination of planter and a light fixture, that would make a nice addition practically to any room? Imagine yourself raising your hand to take some rosemary or basil to add to your soup, or dinner meal? Or how about, you sitting in the strict modern surrounding of white office and above you is a gentle glowing of a light fixture, that also happens to be a mini indoor garden? Pretty amazing, isn’t it?
Toronto based designer, Ryan Taylor works in interactive, graphic & industrial design, and creates user experiences through objects & interfaces. Currently he is creating his own studio, the Objects/Interface, however lately he was working with the PUSH studio.
Ryan Taylor, has made this distinguishable and amazing lamp, which can be used as a lighting fixture and as a planter at the same time! The Babylon light lamp is made from aluminum with a powder coated finish, and it can be hanged and used as a eco-friendly centerpiece in any surrounding. The lamp promises to become a personal mini hanging garden, for any environment. The beauty of this creation is that it introduced green literally and metaphorically, making an eco-friendly gesture toward the environment. Currently, there is only a limited edition of this planters/lighting fixtures is available and of course these gorgeous plants are not included.
Well, of course this beauty cannot escape the fate of being displayed, and starting from January 24 to January 27, 2013 this lamp would be displayed at the IDS13 PROTOTYPE exhibition. For those wishing to attend, but who can’t make it – there would be another show in April. Starting from April 25 to 28, 2013, the Babylon lights would be displayed at GROW-OP, at the Gladstone Hotel. Take your chance to see this beautiful planter and a lamp in one piece!
