Liquid Light by Kristine Five Melvær
Liquid Light by Kristine Five Melvær is a unique project that reinterprets Japanese culture from Norvegian point of view.
Melvær’s Still Life project
The Norvegian designer, Kristine Five Melvær created object that communicate with the observer, and her Liquid Light is no exception. Inspired by the Zen philosophy, Melvær created lamps with a Norvegian diligence. Liquid Light is a part of larger project, entitled Melvær’s Still Life project, which includes objects that create bond between the object and the user.
The Liquid Light is a lamp, that consists of a birch wood plate holding a glass carafe and a brass socket for a candle. The light of a candle behind the carafe is expanded by the liquid in the vessel. This unique lamp was displayed at the Food Work Exhibition, which is an independent project initiated by Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll, founders of Norway Says in Tokyo Midtown Hall during Designtide Tokyo.
